Welcome Newbie!

Stepping into the world of overlanding and vehicle-based camping can feel exciting, overwhelming, and a little intimidating — and that’s exactly why we created a guided experience designed specifically for beginners.

With us leading the way, you’ll gain the skills, confidence, and mindset needed to adventure safely, comfortably, and independently. This is about learning by doing, asking questions, and discovering what overlanding truly feels like — without pressure or judgment.

Hands-On

Your safety and confidence are the foundation of everything we teach. We guide you through the essentials of overlanding in a practical, hands-on way, covering topics such as:

  • Navigating back roads, Forest Service Roads, and trails
(using Gaia GPS and backroad map books)

  • Understanding limitations — your experience level, your vehicle, and recovery capabilities

  • Basic recovery gear — what you need for areas of exploring

  • Choosing a campsite — provincial parks, recreation sites, and backcountry locations

  • Camp setup and breakdown

  • Camp gear basics — essentials vs. unnecessary extras

  • Leave No Trace principle

This is a safe, supportive, zero-judgment environment. You’re encouraged to ask questions, try new skills, and learn at your own pace — knowing your safety is always looked after. Our goal is for you to learn, reconnect with the outdoors, and discover whether overlanding is right for you.

Safety First!

  • Overlanding and backcountry emergency preparedness

  • Weather awareness and decision-making

  • What to do when plans change or things don’t go as expected

  • How to stay safe, self-reliant, and confident while off-grid
