Welcome Newbie x2!

If Newbie is about learning the fundamentals, Newbie x2 is about applying them in more dynamic, real-world conditions.

With us leading the way, you’ll continue learning by doing — asking questions, refining techniques, and gaining the confidence needed to travel further and more independently, all in a supportive, zero-judgment environment.

Hands-On — Building on the Basics

Safety and confidence remain at the core of everything we teach. In this next-level experience, we expand on what you’ve already learned and introduce more advanced concepts, including:

  • Advanced navigation on Forest Service Roads and trails
(reading terrain both on and off trail using Gaia GPS and backroad map books)

  • Off-grid route planning and decision-making

  • Tackling more technical terrain

  • Tire pressure strategies for different terrain types

  • Identifying hazards before they become problems

  • Expanded recovery discussions — gear and techniques suited to more remote exploration

  • Choosing campsites in recreation areas and the backcountry

  • Fine-tuning your camp systems — setup, breakdown, and organization

  • Camp gear for longer trips — essentials vs. unnecessary extras

  • Reinforcing Leave No Trace principles

Safety First!

  • Overlanding and backcountry emergency preparedness

  • Weather awareness and decision-making

  • What to do when plans change or things don’t go as expected

  • How to stay safe, self-reliant, and confident while off-grid
